Islam was founded by Prophet Muhammad PBUH (c. 570-632 C.E.), a merchant from the city of Makkah, now in modern-day Saudi Arabia. Makkah was a well-established trading city. The Holy Kaaba (in Makkah) is the focus of pilgrimage Umrah and Hajj for Muslims. The Holy Quran, the holy book of Islam, provides very short detail about life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH); though, the hadiths, or sayings of the Prophet (PBUH), which were mostly compiled in the centuries following Muhammad’s death, provide a larger description for the events in his life. Muhammad was born in 570 C.E. in Makkah, and his early life was ordinary. Prophet (PBUH) married a wealthy widow named Khadija. Around 610 C.E., Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had his first religious experience, where he was instructed to recite by the Angel Hazrat Jibraeel (AS). After a period of self-doubt and introspection, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) accepted his role as prophet of ALLAH Almighty and began to preach word of the one ALLAH. His first convert was his wife Hazrat Khadija (R.A). Muhammad's divine recitations form the Holy Quran; not like the Bible or Hindu epics, it is organized into verses, well-known as ayat. During one of his many visions, in 621 C.E., Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was taken on the famous Night Journey by the Angel Hazrat Jibraeel (AS), travelling from Makkah to the farthest masjid in Jerusalem, from where He ascended into Jannah (heaven). Eventually in 622, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his followers fled Makkah for the city of Yathrib, which is well-known as Medina in the present day, where his community was welcomed. This event is well-known as the hijrat, or emigration. 622, the year of the hijrat (A.H.), marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar, which is still in use at present. Between 625-630 C.E., there were a chain of battles fought between the Meccans and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the new Muslim community. In the end, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was victorious and re-entered Makkah in 630. One of Muhammad's first actions was to cleanse the Holy Kaaba of all of its idols (before this, the Holy Kaaba was a main site of pilgrimage for the polytheistic religious traditions of the Arabian Peninsula and contained several idols of pagan gods). The Holy Kaaba is believed to have been built by Hazrat Ibraheem (AS) and His son, Hazrat Ismaeel (AS). The Arabs claim descent from Hazrat Ismaeel (AS), the son of Hazrat Ibraheem (AS) and Bibi Hajra. House Of ALLAH Almighty The Holy Kaaba then became the most significant center for pilgrimage Hajj and Umrah in Islam. In 632, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) died in Madina. Muslims believe that He was the final in a line of prophets, which included Hazrat Moosa (AS), Hazrat Ibraheem(AS) etc. Sauditours.co.uk is one of the authorized Hajj and Umrah travel agent based in UK offers a range of Saudi Umrah Tour from UK.
